Mpls tour ride

Another amazingly perfect January day, a dusting of snow covered the roads this morning but melted off by mid afternoon.

Rode with 3 co-workers, one of which is visiting from Chicago. Tried to provide a good tour of Mpls, showing off the Stone Arch, DT, the Greenway & Sabo Bridge, a quick stop at United Noodles, and a short loop through campus.

Cool, windy, and snow flurries made this run feel like a winter run. The trails had a lot of ice patches, which slowed us down too.

Evening commute

The weather was amazing and weird. Left the office a bit before 5pm and enjoyed warm, sunny, bright weather for the next 45 minutes. As dusk fell and the wind picked up, it stopped feeling like fall and felt (correctly) like mid-winter. It was uniquely odd to experience two seasons in 1 ride.

Black Dog Time Trial race

First race, and surprisingly, the actual race was the easiest part. I worried more about getting there, parking, registration, etc. Once I started, it was just another ride. I just focused on maintaining speed and accellerating a bit at each landmark. I finished in 19:11, fast enough to get 19th out of 26 in my class. Nothing spectacular, but I’m happy with the result.
